Privacy Policy for AstroScout Pro

AstroScout Pro is an iOS astrophotography field assistant designed to help users plan imaging sessions, calculate exposure settings, use an AR sky viewfinder, search astronomy targets, and export session information.

This Privacy Policy explains what information AstroScout Pro uses, how it is handled, and what third-party services may be involved.

Information We Collect and Use

Location Information

AstroScout Pro may request access to your device location while the app is in use.

Location is used to:

• Align AR sky targets with your observing position
• Calculate the position of the Sun, Moon, Milky Way, and deep-sky objects
• Save accurate GPS coordinates in exported astrophotography session files

Location data is used for app functionality. AstroScout Pro does not sell your location data and does not use your location to track you across apps or websites.

Camera Access

AstroScout Pro may request access to your device camera for the AR viewfinder.

The camera is used to display the live sky view and overlay astronomy guides, target labels, and alignment markers. AstroScout Pro does not upload camera images or video to its own servers.

Session Data

AstroScout Pro may store session information created by the user, including:

• Selected celestial target
• Camera and lens settings
• Exposure calculations
• GPS coordinates
• Date and time
• Field notes
• Weather or seeing notes

This information is stored locally on your device and may be included in exported .astro session files. If you choose to save or sync those files using iCloud Drive, Apple handles that sync according to your Apple ID and iCloud settings.

Purchases

AstroScout Pro offers Pro upgrade options, including a lifetime upgrade and a monthly subscription.

Purchases are processed by Apple through StoreKit. AstroScout Pro does not collect or store your payment card information. The app receives purchase entitlement information from Apple so it can unlock Pro features and remove ads.

Advertising

AstroScout Pro uses Google AdMob to display banner advertisements on non-AR screens. Ads are not shown in the AR viewfinder.

Google AdMob may collect or process information for ad delivery, measurement, fraud prevention, and related advertising services. This may include device identifiers, usage data, diagnostics, and approximate location depending on user settings, consent requirements, and Google’s policies.

You can remove ads by purchasing a Pro upgrade or subscribing to Pro.

Astronomy Content and Images

AstroScout Pro may display astronomy information and images from NASA public sources. NASA is credited where applicable. AstroScout Pro does not send your personal information to NASA.

Third-Party Services

AstroScout Pro may use the following third-party or platform services:

• Apple Core Location
• Apple ARKit
• Apple StoreKit
• Apple iCloud Drive, if you choose to export or sync files
• Google AdMob
• NASA public image and astronomy information sources

Each third-party service may process data according to its own privacy policy.

Data Sharing

AstroScout Pro does not operate its own user account system or backend server.

We do not sell your personal information. Data may be processed by Apple or Google when their services are used in the app.

Your Choices

You can control app permissions in iOS Settings, including:

• Location access
• Camera access

You can delete exported session files from your device or iCloud Drive. You can remove ads by purchasing or subscribing to Pro.

Children’s Privacy

AstroScout Pro is not intended to knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. Any changes will be reflected by updating the effective date above.
